March at Oak Ridge Winery

March is Women’s History Month and during, we celebrate International Women’s Day and Women in Wine. Oak Ridge Winery certainly has reason to celebrate. With 39 women working across departments at the winery – Raquel Casity’s role as General Manager and part owner with her two sisters, Lisa and Shelly, Chief Winemaker Laura Chadwell, and Winemaking Assistants Lorena and Sasha – women are integral to this winery.

The Women of Oak Ridge Winery

It’s not often that you see a women owned and operated winery with women Chief Winemakers and Winemaking Assistants. At Oak Ridge Winery in Lodi, California, we take pride in the women who work here. We even have a brand that is representative of the three sisters who own and manage the facility called 3 Girls. You won’t just find women in ownership and wine, but all throughout the facility and in different departments.

“My sisters and I grew up in the vineyards and wanted the labels to reflect each of our unique personalities while also expressing our family’s exceptional wine grape growing from the esteemed Lodi appellation. Not only do my sisters and I own, operate, and grow for ORW, we have Laura Chadwell as our Chief Winemaker. Lorena and Sasha also play a huge role as Assistant Winemakers here,” Raquel, the youngest of the three sisters says.

The 3 Girls line includes Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are the three sisters’ favorite varietals. The Cabernet Sauvignon represents Raquel as “the influencer”. The wine is reflective of her bold personality by being complex and full bodied with aromas of blackberry and vanilla with flavors of black cherry, coffee, and spiced oak.

The Chardonnay represents Lisa, the oldest of the three and “the mediator”. The Chardonnay is reflective of Lisa’s peacekeeping and realist qualities by having bold, tropical pineapple notes and flavors of guava balanced by a buttery texture and acidic finish.

Shelley, the middle sister, is represented by “the instigator”, the Sauvignon Blanc in the 3 Girls line. The pear and orange zest aromas, flavors of white peach, along with the bright acidity is reflective of Shelley’s fun and fierce personality.

We have a reason to celebrate Women in Wine every day, but today we celebrate International Women’s Day by pouring a glass of our favorite 3 Girls wine.
