Lodi is known for old vines and the exceptional Zinfandels that wineries produce throughout the region. This year, Oak Ridge Winery processed about 4,141 tons of Zinfandel. Of those 740,000 gallons of Zinfandel, about 509,000 gallons will be used to produce around 214,500 cases of Zinfandel spread throughout our various brands. From our flagship OZV Zinfandel to our premium lines, we have a Zinfandel for everyone.
Our 2020 OZV Zinfandel recently received 92 points and placed #10 in the Top 100 Best Buys from Wine Enthusiast. This vintage is a full-bodied red with medium tannins and features a deep ruby color and notes of dark fruit with baking spice and vanilla. Additionally, OZV Zin has been awarded a gold medal and 91 points and a Gold Medal from The Sunset International Wine Competition, Double Gold at the San Antonio Stock & Rodeo Wine Competition, and another Gold Medal from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. You can find our award-winning wine here.
Up next is Moss Roxx Reserve Zinfandel, which is also one of our most loved Zinfandels. The 2020 vintage features generous blackberry and fig jam and notes of toasted caramel and nutmeg. It’s complex and perfectly balanced between bold fruit and hints of spiced oak. 2020 Moss Roxx Reserve Zinfandel was also rewarded 90 points from Wine Enthusiast, see Jim Gordon’s review here.
Another Oak Ridge Zinfandel is Old Soul Old Vine Zinfandel. The 2020 vintage showcases aromas of blueberry and black currants, flavors of black plum and berry preserves, and a cinnamon spice finish. The 2019 vintage was rated a 93 by Beverage Dynamics for a similar profile. Kyle Swartz of Beverage Dynamics wrote, “Outstanding example of an old vine zin, from a sustainably farmed, estate-grown, fifth-generation winery,” in his review of the 2019 Old Soul Old Vine Zinfandel.
